Make Time for Meals
Is there such a thing as time management in your life? Everyone has the same 24 hours in every day, and better eating habits probably start with an analysis of your daily structure. If you find that you are constantly nibbling on something as the day goes by, rather than setting time to prepare and eat good meals, you've got to change that bad habit. Perhaps you can start by getting up earlier in the morning, by half an hour or so, to have a very good, wholesome breakfast that can start off the day on a good note.
Know What's at Risk
If you're still grazing or snacking, then you need to get into the habit of chewing on some gum immediately after, which will benefit your dental health. It is unfortunate, but most of the snacks that people tend to eat have a high sugar content and place your teeth under attack. Foods that are high in sugar content will create plaque acid that tends to damage all the enamel and throw the pH balance off in your mouth completely.
Know What You Should Do
Remember to get sugar-free gum, so that you don't end up exacerbating the problem. Get into the new habit of chewing on this gum for a while after you have eaten anything sugary. In an ideal world, it would be a good idea to brush your teeth each time, but that's not practical for most people. Chewing this sugar-free gum is therefore a great way to keep the harmful plaque acid at bay and to provide support for your tooth enamel.
When you chew gum, additional saliva will be produced through this action, and it is a great way to neutralise harmful acids and clean the mouth of food residue at the same time.
Remove the Initial Problem
While you are chewing away, put some thought into how you can restructure your daily schedule, blocking off time for the three important meals of the day and cutting down on that bad snacking habit.
